It’s December, and it’s safe to say we are spoiled in terms of movie releases. Like every Wednesday, we offer you a selection of films freshly released in theaters.
1. Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia by Julien Chheng and Jean-Christophe Roger
Ernest and Celestine are back in this highly anticipated sequel. The first film dazzled us with its beautiful traditional animation and touching storyline. This new installment seems to be in the same vein as its predecessor, and it looks very promising. A perfect film for the whole family, to be seen urgently.
2. My Heroine by Noémie Lefort
A French comedy that tells the story of Alex, a young woman who dreams of going to New York to meet Julia Roberts and make a career in cinema. A film with exciting actresses, truly dedicated to their roles. Beyond the comedic aspect, the feature film is very touching with its sincere and human story.
3. Corsage by Marie Kreutzer
This is a biopic about the life of Elisabeth of Austria, better known as Empress Sissi. A film offering an absolutely sumptuous 19th-century historical reconstruction. With its fabulous costumes and sets, the feature film also offers a perfect embodiment of the famous Empress by Vicky Krieps, who is perfect in her role.
4. Stella in Love by Sylvie Verheyde
As the title suggests, we follow the story of Stella, a young woman experiencing her high school graduation year. The action takes place in 1985 in a sunny, nostalgic atmosphere. A beautiful film about the spirited and rebellious essence of youth, with Flavie Delangle in the title role, who is absolutely marvelous.
5. Avatar: The Way of Water by James Cameron
Probably the most anticipated sequel of the last decade. The first film, with its multiple records, was released in 2009, becoming the highest-grossing box office hit worldwide. This sequel has been long awaited and finally arrives this December, after more than ten years of anticipation. This time, visionary director James Cameron has once again created new technology specifically for this film. With its underwater scenes, this new installment promises a deep dive into new horizons that is likely to make a big splash.
