1. Dune: Part Two by Denis Villeneuve
In this second part, Paul Atreides joins forces with Chani and the Fremen to lead the uprising against those who have destroyed his family. Haunted by dark premonitions, he is confronted with the greatest dilemma: choosing between the love of his life and the fate of the universe.
2. The Mother of All Lies by Asmae El Moudir
The story takes place in Casablanca. The young filmmaker Asmae El Moudir seeks to untangle the lies passed down in her family. Using a model of her childhood neighborhood and figurines of each of her relatives, she replays her own story. It is then that the wounds of an entire people emerge and the forgotten history of Morocco is revealed.
3. Fallen Off the Truck by Philippe Pollet-Villard
When his trawler breaks down, Stan, a gruff old sailor, struggles to find his place on dry land. Françoise, his wife, and his two gendarme sons are used to his bad temper and small squabbles, but his troubles take on a new dimension when he comes home with Bahman, 10 years old, found in a stolen box.
4. Black Tea by Abderrahmane Sissako
Aya, a young Ivorian woman in her thirties, says no on her wedding day, to everyone’s astonishment. Emigrated to China, she works in a tea export shop with Cai, a 45-year-old Chinese man. Aya and Cai fall in love but will their story survive the upheavals of their pasts and the prejudices of others?
5. Madame de Sévigné by Isabelle Brocard
Mid-17th century, the Marquise de Sévigné wants to make her daughter a brilliant and independent woman, in her image. But the more she tries to have control over the young woman’s destiny, the more the daughter rebels. Mother and daughter then experience the torments of a fusion-like and devastating relationship. From this upheaval, a major work of French literature will be born.
