1. The Zone of Interest by Jonathan Glazer
This week’s movie releases start beautifully with: The Zone of Interest. The film tells the story of Auschwitz commander Rudolf Höss and his wife Hedwig. They envision a dream life with a large family, a house, and a big garden on a plot directly adjacent to the camp’s wall. However, when Rudolf has to be transferred to Oranienburg, their little ideal life threatens to collapse, and he hides the information from his wife. When Hedwig finds out, she is absolutely unwilling to move and leave this place she loves above all else.
2. Amelia’s Children by Gabriel Abrantes
Orphaned since birth, Edward discovers as an adult that he has a twin and a mother he does not know. 3. They Shot The Piano Player by Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal
A New York music journalist investigates the disappearance on the eve of Argentina’s coup d’état of Francisco Tenório Jr, a Brazilian virtuoso pianist. While celebrating jazz and Bossa Nova, the film captures a fleeting era of creative freedom at a turning point in the history of Latin America in the 60s and 70s, just before the continent fell under the grip of totalitarian regimes.
4. Argylle by Matthew Vaughn
