1. Rendezvous with Pol Pot by Rithy Panh
1978. For three years, Cambodia, now known as Democratic Kampuchea, has been under the rule of Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge. The country is economically drained, and nearly two million Cambodians have perished in a genocide still unspoken of. Three French individuals have accepted an invitation from the regime and hope to secure an exclusive interview with Pol Pot: a journalist familiar with the country, a photographer, and an intellectual sympathetic to the revolutionary ideology.
