After a spring-summer exhibition for an international artist, Alberto Giacometti, the Lympia Gallery turned back to a local artist, Patrick Moya. A step backward, then? Not at all.
If we stepped out of the fantasies of globalization and its negatives, we would realize that our present and especially our future will be structured by alternating or adding local and international elements. It’s the addition of two positives, and it’s called “glocalization”!
Welcomed by the robot Nao*, a beautiful example of the world of tomorrow, authorities and the public braved the tramontane wind for the inauguration of the exhibition dedicated to this multifaceted visual artist.
An inauguration marked by modernity with projections and illuminations on the facades of the Lympia Gallery which, in the favor of darkness, worked a sort of magic and fascinated the many attendees.
“I am happy and proud that the Alpes-Maritimes Department is hosting an exceptional artist today,” declared President Charles-Ange Ginesy before recalling Patrick Moya’s maturity and talent.
This event, which the artist defines as an “intro-retrospective,” shows through various sections, which correspond to the chronology of his artistic evolution, the foundations upon which his work is built.
A contradictory and fascinating journey at once, between different expressions (painting, sculpture, objects, decoration) with “I” and sometimes “superego” as a backdrop.
An irregular production, nativity scenes, stained glass, chapel murals, masks, circuses, varied performances… the invention of Dolly, the mischievous little sheep in reference to the famous cloned sheep, that’s him.
A colorful universe that deserves a visit.
