The decree providing for their installation will be published on Friday, May 15.
The first meeting of the municipal council, which will notably enable the election of the mayor and their deputies, is to be held five to ten days following the date the municipal councilors take office, set for May 18, meaning between Saturday, May 23, and Thursday, May 28.
The installation of municipal councils elected in the first round had been postponed, as well as the holding of the second round, initially scheduled for March 22, due to the health crisis, with the mandate of outgoing mayors then being extended. According to official figures, councils in about 79% of the affected municipalities include fewer than 20 elected members and 95% fewer than 30.
