In the spring of 2020, during the health crisis, Nice was the first in France to fly a drone to deliver information messages and to deter offenders. This experiment demonstrated the usefulness and effectiveness of this technology.
Building on this experience, its expertise, and the parliamentary vote on the comprehensive security law allowing the use of drones, the municipal police of Nice has acquired three devices: a professional drone for long-distance observation, a second for reconnaissance and support to ground forces, and a third very efficient small-format drone for easily resolving uncertainties.
The presentation of the three new devices at the Castle Hill was followed by a flight demonstration. Several scenarios were proposed to showcase some of the operational possibilities of this technology in the service of security: securing an event site and detecting a suspicious exchange, searching for a lost person, 3D modeling of a natural disaster.
