A happy chain of events led Pierre Marchou, former Mayor of Vence, to make this 54-minute documentary titled โ€œIn Search of the School of Nice.โ€

In July 2000, Frรฉdรฉric Altmann organized an exhibition titled โ€œThe Paradox of Alexandreโ€ at the newly inaugurated Contemporary Art Center of Carros. It was meant to celebrate the forty years of the certainly original career of Alexandre De La Salle as an art gallery host. From this meeting with these two friends came the proposal to make a film concerning the artists of the School of Nice. Given his interest in the subject and his experience as a short film director for over twenty years, Pierre Marchou gladly accepted the proposal. He met with Arman, Ben, Chubac, Fahri, Sosno, Venet, Nivรจse, and others to film long interviews with them as well as their works. Pierre Marchou wishes to highlight the deep dialogue that the city of Nice has maintained with each of them.

Once completed, Pierre Marchou’s film was screened on September 26, 2009, in front of the monumental sculptures of Sacha Sosno at the Elysรฉe Palace hotel. Since then, numerous public screenings have been held in Vence and Nice.

โ€œIn Search of the School of Niceโ€ was, for this seasoned director, โ€œa kind of loving pilgrimage within the setting of his hometown.โ€ โ€œAn initiation through image into the artistic adventure of creators of great originality that he wishes to share with those who will watch this film.โ€

Come in large numbers to enjoy this 54-minute documentary.
