In 20 years, more than 500,000 visitors from around the world have come to discover one of Europe’s most beautiful sites of rock engravings.
At the Musée des Merveilles, 2016 aims to further promote Culture. It’s an opportunity to immerse oneself in the marvelous epic of those men and women who, throughout the centuries, created the strong identity of our mountains by leaving the indelible imprint of their lives.
This international cultural influence, the Musée des Merveilles owes to meticulous scientific research that has enhanced archaeological and historical knowledge in the eastern part of the department.
With its temporary exhibitions, activities, and conferences, this museum has managed to provide a clear and entertaining perspective on five millennia of human presence in the Alpes-Maritimes.
The Department invites all audiences to celebrate its 20th anniversary with unique events.
Children first, through a visit to the permanent gallery in the form of games in areas reserved for 4 to 9-year-olds, enabling them to independently acquire the essential notions of the museum’s spirit.
Adults next, by allowing them to discover spaces traditionally forbidden to the public (reserves, scientific library…), which constitute the very foundation of the internal functioning of an archaeology and ethnology museum.
Families finally, by offering them throughout the year, activities where sometimes parents will act as cultural mediators for their children.
