The Nation’s mourning for the victims of July 14th

Latest News

President Franรงois Hollande will be in Nice this morning (at 11 AM) for a national tribute to the victims of the July 14 attack at the Chรขteau Hill, which rises by the sea near Old Nice and the port, in the presence of elected officials, foreign delegations, and bereaved families.

The victims and families are spread across 63 departments and 19 countries.

This is the first decentralized national tribute. Usually, these kinds of ceremonies are held in Paris, at the Panthรฉon or Les Invalides.

The names of the 86 deceased victims, nearly a third of whom were Muslim, will be read, and a white rose will be laid for each of them by students from a high school in Nice.

After a text is read by a member of a victim’s family, singer Julien Clerc will lend his voice to the departed, as will the children’s choir from the Nice Opera.
