The National Front attacks the “Estrosi tax”. All municipalities will receive flyers to denounce it!

Certainly!

Strike while the iron is hot! That’s what the two “Dioscuri” of the National Front, Lionel Tivoli (departmental delegate) and Philippe Vardon (regional councilor and party leader in Nice and its region), did after Thursday’s vote at the Metropolitan Council, which approved the implementation of the new property tax on built land.

Already a speaker in the chamber to present her amendments against this tax, the National Front councilor Marie-Christine Arnautu had tried to flush out the metropolitan mayors. This operation failed as it became entangled with the rebellion led by the “pro-Ciotti” group, who were also opposed but for different reasons.

Now, they move from institutional venues to the field, with the aim of denouncing the mayors and putting them in a difficult position in front of their constituents.

The operation is extensive: no less than 70,000 leaflets will be distributed in the 43 municipalities that voted for the adoption of this tax.

Only the “rebellious” municipalities will be exempt. A unique case is La Trinité, where its mayor voted against the tax but then approved the budget of which this tax is a component… an official both ‘concave and convex’ at the same time!

According to Philippe Vardon: “The goal is clearly to hold the mayors accountable. We refuse to allow mayors to dilute their responsibilities by hiding behind the Metropolis, and thus we will remind each one of their vote directly in front of their voters.”
