The National Committee of Harki Liaison, which brings together 150 presidents of Harki associations, is calling for a vote for Emmanuel Macron in the second round of the presidential election.
“It is important for the community to mobilize massively given the danger that the extreme right in power may represent,” stated Mohamed Otsmani, regional delegate for the PACA region of the committee.
“Patriots,” the Harkis have “shed blood for the homeland, for the nation” and want to “reaffirm (their) attachment to the Republic,” he also said, adding that according to the committee, Emmanuel Macron was “the republican candidate.”
The En Marche! candidate had met with Harki associations at his campaign headquarters in mid-April, two months after the controversy sparked by his remarks in Algeria on colonization as a “crime against humanity.”
