A remarkable collaboration with the Louvre Museum to launch a cultural program linked to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
From April 6 to September 17, 2023, the National Museum of Sport takes part in the adventure of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games with “Victories.” An exhibition featuring the collections and artworks of the Louvre Museum, which, for the occasion, exceptionally lends twenty-eight pieces from its collections of antiquities, modern sculptures, and paintings.
An unprecedented dialogue between the visitor and the exhibition revisiting the foundations of sport with its values and achievements. A dive into this extraordinary universe through the adventures of champions ranging from Philippides, the ancient Greek marathon runner, to the 1998 French national team. Stories of victories are narrated and highlighted with exceptional pieces organized around three themes: “The Victorious Body,” “Peace and Freedom,” and “Fame.” An exhibition that finds its rightful place in the National Museum of Sport, located in Nice, a city whose Greek name Nikaia comes from Nike, the goddess of victory.
