Why a monitoring body on the sponsorships of candidates for the next presidential election?
Because the debate is seriously underway for the candidacies for the 2007 presidential election!
Scalded by the incredible controversy that occurred in 2002 about the 500 “signatures” needed for a candidate to run for the Presidency of the Republic, we wish to clarify this aspect of the law and undertake a real civic initiative so that voters can be actors in this sponsorship process.
Democracy only exercises completely and serenely in transparency, so we offer citizens interested in this debate a tool reminding them of the current legislation.
You will find, at the bottom of the page, a series of downloadable letters intended for elected officials who have the power to sign a candidate’s presentation list.
In this spirit of transparency, we also invite you to inform us by sending a copy of your letter or email to the editorial team.
We invite you to communicate to us the list of officials you have approached as well as their possible responses to: [redaction@nicepremium.fr](mailto:redaction@nicepremium.fr).
Thus, we will be able to regularly publish the responses or non-responses of the approached officials.
Finally, the political objective of this initiative is indeed to place the sponsorship process in the public square away from possible partisan arrangements but, in no case, to exclude any candidacy.
*A thank you to Philippe for his collaboration in setting up this operation.*
