This Sunday, February 8, the Trail des Neiges at Casterino will be the first event of the 2015 edition of the Challenge Trail Nature 06. The course will cover 11 km, with a 300 D+ elevation gain.
This unique event in the Alpes-Maritimes, with the Mercantour National Park and the Valley of Wonders as a backdrop, attracts many competitors who strive to excel on an original course entirely covered with packed snow.
Located in an exceptional and preserved site: Castérino, at an altitude of 1,500 meters.
Continuous renewal and new features each season are the recipes for the success of the Challenge Trail Nature 06. In 2015, under the banner of “nature sports,” it will truly make sense with the 8th edition of this flagship outdoor sports event.
With nearly 4,000 participants in 2014, the enthusiasm for this championship, which offers runners of all levels the chance to tread varied terrains in their preferred race format* while discovering stunning panoramas, remains undiminished.
This year, it includes one more date and three new events: the Trail des Merveilles, winding through the splendid trails of the Roya Valley; the Trail du Pays de Grasse, allowing participants to discover the heights overlooking the city of perfumes; and the Vésubie Trails, whose routes, set to host the French championships in 2016, pass through the first trail station of the southern Alps. The Escarénoise, winding through the Paillon Valley, makes its return.
Another new feature is the addition of a bonus, with the evocative slogan “Trail runner, bring your sport to life… participate in organizing a race in the challenge,” offering registrants 30 extra points for bringing their skills to one of the competitions in the 2015 Challenge.
The Handi Trail continues its development, with specific courses offered on the Limaces, Alpes-Maritimes, and Gorbio trails.
Family Hikes and the free lending of electric bikes will once again be offered on a large number of dates.
With also the 1st Ultra-Trail® Côte d’Azur Mercantour on September 4, 2015 will certainly be the year of nature sports in the 06!
