Arriving from Strasbourg, the young (20-year-old) winger Ihsan Sacko is the first and last new signing for Nice in this winter transfer window. He comes to strengthen a sector lacking players this season.
Ihsan Sacko experienced Ligue 1 this year with Strasbourg, which he joined in 2015 when they were in National 1. Trained in Valenciennes, he was invited for a 3-day trial with the Strasbourg club. However, as he was taking his baccalaureate, he was accepted after just one day.
Despite his young age, he participated in Strasbourg’s successive promotions (to Ligue 2 and then Ligue 1), thus discovering the elite of French football and setting himself a target of 10 goals.
After playing 17 matches without scoring a single goal or providing an assist, he signed with OGC Nice for an estimated amount of between 1 and 2 million euros.
He describes himself as a “dynamic player whose game is based on speed,” but he acknowledges that he still needs to work on “playing with his back to the game in order to better withstand impacts.”
Monitored for several years by Nice’s recruitment team, Sacko’s transfer aligns with the strategy of signing young players with high potential, like Wylan Cyprien or Adrien Tamèze, for example.
Despite rumors of Younès Belhanda’s return, President Jean-Pierre Rivère announced that Ihsan Sacko would be the last signing of this winter transfer window.
