Parcoursup.fr opened on December 20, 2018, to give candidates more time to explore courses, refine their study plans, and prepare for submitting their choices starting January 22.


The Nice Academy in numbers

In the Nice Academy, 24,866 candidates confirmed at least one choice, including 17,927 high school seniors, 3,339 candidates in course changes, and 3,600 candidates primarily enrolling to resume their studies.

167,339 choices were confirmed during the main phase of the 2019 session, representing a 23% increase compared to 2018.
A total of 221,515 choices were made, including sub-choices, which were more numerous due to additional multiple-choice options offered in 2019.

Nationally, candidates made 6.9 million choices. A total of 8.6 million choices were recorded, including sub-choices, of which 1.5 million were exclusively for Nursing Training Institutes (IFSI).

The new features of Parcoursup

Parcoursup.fr was revamped to meet the recommendations of users consulted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation during the 2018 Parcoursup campaign.

It notably includes:

  • A dynamic timeline on each page offering a “memo” detailing key actions for candidates according to the calendar.
  • A more accessible “Frequently Asked Questions” section specifically addressing candidates’ queries, updated throughout the process.
  • Video tutorials available to help candidates understand and anticipate the calendar stages.
  • All information regarding “student life” procedures with a timeline for scholarship and accommodation requests aligned with the Parcoursup schedule.
  • The Twitter feed @parcoursup_info integrated into the homepage to follow Parcoursup updates.
  • Website accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

    New courses

Overall, more than 1,400 courses will be introduced, including 350 Nursing Training Institutes (IFSI) and 150 Social Work Training Establishments (EFTS). A total of 30,000 additional places will be available for candidates on Parcoursup.

By 2020, all state-recognized courses will join Parcoursup. 


Additionally, personalized and local support is provided by 2 main teachers in high school senior classes. They dedicate guidance hours integrated into the students’ schedules for personalized monitoring, in collaboration with the National Education Psychologists who guide, advise, and individually support each high school student.
