The curiosity surrounding the successor to Lauriano Azheirinha as the general director of services for the City of Nice and the Metropolis came to an end at the City Council meeting with the announcement from Christian Estrosi: Olivier Breully, 48, a referendum magistrate at the Court of Auditors and current special advisor to the Minister of Culture in charge of relations with local authorities, has been appointed.

Mr. Breully, who will assume his position starting March 7, had previously served as chief of staff to Christian Estrosi when he was Minister of Industry (2009-2010). He will be tasked with implementing the extensive investment program for 2021-2026 and, given his background, working towards the “best welcome” for Nice’s bid to become the European Capital of Culture in 2028.

Lauriano Azheirinha, meanwhile, is expected to take on the responsibility of the Metropolitan Agency for the attractiveness and economic development of the territory.
