The new identity document will be issued in the Alpes-Maritimes starting from March 8th.
To obtain it, one must go to one of the 32 equipped town halls (the most important ones and others strategically placed to create territorial coverage) to collect fingerprints.
This document will be as secure as a passport, which will allow state services to fight fraud more effectively.
The identity card will be biometric, which involves scanning the applicant’s fingerprints, digitizing them, and recording them on the card, all with specialized computer equipment.
