The new provisions of the Ministry of Labor regarding unemployment benefits protect the Azure tourism sector.

The Ministry of Labor detailed the measures for supporting staff placed on partial activity following the lockdown and various provisions related to the health crisis, starting from June 1st.

Until now, the allowance paid to employees for the non-working hours was fully covered by the State and Unédic.

Since the end of the lockdown, certain economic activities have partially or fully resumed. The Ministry of Labor plans to adjust the support system. “This bill will allow in particular for the adjustment of the partial activity system according to the sectors of activity,” specified the ministerial statement released yesterday.

As of June 1st, the conditions for covering the partial activity allowance will be reviewed to support this recovery:

– The allowance paid to the employee remains unchanged: during partial activity, they receive 70% of their gross salary (approximately 84% of the net salary), and at least the net minimum wage.

– The coverage of this allowance by the State and Unédic will be 85% of the allowance paid to the employee, within the unchanged limit of 4.5 times the minimum wage. Companies will therefore be reimbursed 60% of the gross salary, instead of the previous 70%.

However, in accordance with the commitments made during the Interministerial Tourism Committee on May 14, sectors that are subject to specific legislative or regulatory restrictions due to the health crisis will continue to benefit from 100% coverage.

This is good news for the economy in the Côte d’Azur region, which was hit hard by the drop in tourist numbers and for which the summer season looks more than problematic.
