Nice Premium: JC Magnenet, it’s the big day for 20 Minutes Nice. How has this last week been in the starting blocks?
Jean-Christophe Magnenet: Well, we spent the week “full throttle” to be thoroughly ready by creating dry runs. We had to ensure that technically everything was okay and that nothing would hinder the setup, from page creation in Nice to printing, including the transmission of data to the central editorial office in Paris.
Nice Premium: Introduce us to this new arrival in the Nice media landscape?
Jean-Christophe Magnenet: 20 Minutes is a free general information daily newspaper launched in France in the early 2000s by the Norwegian publisher Schibsted, in partnership with the Ouest France group. It is entirely funded by advertising. This newspaper already has 8 local editions: Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Nantes, Strasbourg, and of course, the Greater Paris area.
Nice Premium: What can we find each day in 20 Minutes?
Jean-Christophe Magnenet: First, the news from Nice, at the opening of the newspaper, in all its forms, whether it is political, cultural, or economic. At the end of the newspaper, there will also be a page entirely devoted to local sports news. Then, of course, all the national and international news of the day.
Nice Premium: Will there also be a web edition?
Jean-Christophe Magnenet: 20 Minutes has, of course, a very efficient website. The Nice edition, like all regional editions, can be downloaded every day in PDF format from this site.
Nice Premium: Regarding the team, what will be the starting staff for this venture?
Jean-Christophe Magnenet: We are two journalist-photographers working full-time on this project. We will also collaborate with freelancers, depending on our resources, of course.
Nice Premium: Finally, what are your hopes for the coming weeks?
Jean-Christophe Magnenet: We intend to offer people from Nice serious, solid, and diverse information that interests the widest audience.
