Even though revolution is no longer relevant, the communists in Nice have not laid down their arms. Lacking ideological fuel and troops, they have simply shifted to social struggles.
After what we imagine were studious holidays, their leaders Robert Injey and Philippe Pellegrini are ready to take action head-on.
Objective: to firmly oppose the right-wing policies of the government and the resulting social damage.
The list of complaints is rich and varied: poverty plan, disorganization of hospitals, housing crisis, unemployment and precariousness, disastrous management of the regional SNCF with station closures (in reality, ticket offices will be replaced by automatic machines), the merger of the Nice Academy with that of Marseille-Aix with loss of autonomy (Minister Blanquier explained that the territorial reorganization will not harm Nice’s structures).
In short, nothing is going well in people’s daily lives, according to the two communist leaders.
“The recent attempt at a social shift by the Government is nothing but a massive fraud,” said Robert Injey, “not unlike Christian Estrosi’s sleight of hand to justify tax increases.”
“Capitalist demands force the tightening of screws, living and working conditions are deteriorating. There will be social unrest that will undermine representative democracy,” is his conclusion.
For now, they are sticking with classic protest actions: gathering and marching on October 6th to preserve the quality of public services.
A follow-up on the 9th, on the occasion of the national day against President Macron’s policies.
The struggle continues!
