Nice is joining the celebrations for the 13th anniversary of the Macao Special Administrative Region. The expertise and carnival tradition of Nice have indeed attracted the attention of Macao, which wished for the Nice troupes and technicians to participate in the “Latin Parade” on December 20, 2012, in front of tens of thousands of spectators. And it was the Nice dragon that kicked off the festivities!

Rudy Salles, Deputy and Assistant to the Mayor of Nice in charge of Tourism and International Relations, represented Nice in Macao to formalize a strategic partnership with this very cosmopolitan region.

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to the architectural wealth left by more than four centuries of Portuguese presence, Macao today surpasses Las Vegas in terms of tourist impact, receiving nearly 30 million tourists annually (of which 25 million are of Chinese origin).

The creation of 5 scholarships for students from the Alliance Franรงaise of Macao to the Alliance Franรงaise of Nice, an exchange program for students between the Paul Augier Hotel School of Nice and the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, a partnership between the ballets of the Nice and Macao Opera Houses, a press conference on the 2013 Nice Carnival: “King of the 5 Continents” and the inauguration of a photo exhibition on the theme of the Nice Carnival were also on the agenda of this delegation from the City of Nice’s visit to Macao.
