The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis among the 17 pilot sites of the Rent Observatories

Latest News

The Nice Metropolis will be one of the sites participating in this observatory, whose purposes and objectives are outlined below. Also within the department, CASA (Community of Agglomeration Sophia-Antipolis-Antibes) will be part of the panel, as well as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI).

This partnership will last for 3 years and could be useful for guiding the metropolitan housing policy, which is a key component of the territory’s economy and attractiveness. Naturally, Mrs. Dominique Estrosi-Sassone will represent the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis in this body.

By launching the work of a scientific committee and an experimental phase on 17 pilot sites, Cécile Duflot, Minister of Territorial Equality and Housing, takes the first step towards deploying a network of rent observatories in France.

To improve public information, to have precise, complete, and homogeneous knowledge of the rental market across the territory, and to more finely target public housing policies, the Minister aims to create a network of rent observatories.

Distributed throughout the territory and representing the diversity of rental market situations, 17 pilot observatories, existing structures supported by local authorities and arising from various local initiatives, have been selected for a first phase of experimentation.

An evaluation of the system will be conducted in the summer of 2013, in order to launch the extension of the system from fall 2013.

A scientific committee for the observation of rents, composed of independent experts, will ensure the rigor and quality of data collection and processing methods. It will also monitor the evaluation and deployment modalities of the system.
