Nice Côte d’Azur is one of the 10 finalists selected by the jury of independent experts for the European Capital of Smart Tourism Award. 35 European cities from 17 member states of the European Union were candidates. Nice will present its case for the title during a major oral presentation on October 9 in Helsinki, before a jury appointed by the European Commission.
The 9 other finalist cities are: Bratislava (Slovakia), Breda (Netherlands), Bremerhaven (Germany), Gothenburg (Sweden), Karlsruhe (Germany), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Malaga (Spain), Ravenna, and Turin (Italy).
This award was created at the request of the European Parliament. It recognizes European cities and offers them the opportunity to share best practices they implement as smart tourist destinations. Additionally, four thematic awards will be given to cities that have stood out in a particular category.
