Since February 14, Nice has been selected among the 22 winners of the Call for Expressions of Interest “Territories Committed to Housing.”
The Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, unveiled on Wednesday, February 14, the 22 winners of the Call for Expressions of Interest “Territories Committed to Housing.” Following the circular of November 21, 2023, organizing a call for applications from municipalities and inter-municipal bodies in areas with high housing pressure, Nice was chosen among the 22 winners. They will therefore receive funding for the creation of their projects. The study project indicates the construction of 30,000 housing units in 22 territories of the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis by 2027.
Nice Eco Vallée, the Jewel of the Metropolis
Nice Eco Vallée is one of the 22 winning territories of the Call for Expressions of Interest “Territories Committed to Housing.” It is the flagship project of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, spanning 10,000 hectares.
It ensures the creation of an urban technopole, a multimodal exchange hub, and the establishment of high-quality housing. More specifically, the development of economic, sports, and leisure activities, the implementation of bioclimatic public transport, and the Joia Méridia real estate program dedicated to sustainable development and quality of life.
A Study Launched for Elevation
In December 2023, Nice presented a study on the creation of elevated housing. This study would allow the establishment of 8,000 new housing units. The study identified 5,000 buildings suitable for elevation. Elevation is only possible on two levels, which would allow an increase of 400 m2 more on the two added levels.
Discussions are underway with landlords, and a project is expected to be presented at the beginning of 2024. The Prime Minister Gabriel Attal also praised Christian Estrosi’s project. The main study also stated that it might not necessarily build social housing but could also enlarge schools…
