The Nice Criminal Court acquitted Cédric Herrou following a complaint filed by the Prefect of Alpes-Maritimes, Georges-François Leclerc, for public insult.

The prefect of Alpes-Maritimes had accused the activist of drawing a parallel between the treatment of migrants in the department and that of Jews during the Occupation. A fine of 5000 euros for public insult had been sought against Cédric Herrou.

The court ruled that the offense was not constituted.
