Taken over by the City of Nice’s Communication and Events Department for the past 2 years, the Nice Jazz Festival showcases the greatest national and international artists to a consistently large and dedicated audience. In the 2012 edition, 32,500 visitors attended the musical celebration.
Sébastien Vidal, representing Le Duc des Lombards°, has been entrusted with the artistic direction of the Festival, following a call for tenders.
Sébastien Vidal presented the first confirmed artists for the 2013 Nice Jazz Festival. Dynamic and very trendy, the lineup is set to give the festival a renewed momentum, brimming with rhythm and elegance.
“It is a great honor that the City of Nice and Christian Estrosi have bestowed upon us. The Nice Jazz Festival is an exciting project. Now that the city has successfully established jazz at the heart of Nice by embedding it firmly into the city center, we must continue to anchor it in its history and offer it all the diversity and youth that jazz embodies today. This is a magnificent challenge that we are eager to take on.”
The sentiment seems to be shared by the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi: “I am delighted with the appointment of Sébastien Vidal as the artistic director of the Nice Jazz Festival. After my decision to take the Nice Jazz Festival back under city management, we will reinforce its “Jazz” identity by aligning it with current times, inviting the upcoming generation… Heritage and modernity are the values that the Nice Jazz Festival must embrace.”
The first big names are expected to soon headline the NJF 2013!
