On September 3, the municipality of Nice organized a ceremony to thank the municipal police for their commitment and courage. Announcements were made to strengthen the contact between law enforcement and the people of Nice.
In the Albert 1st Garden, at the misty spaces, on September 3, all the forces of the municipal police were standing at attention to honor their decorated colleagues. Fourteen officers of the municipal police were awarded with internal security medals, including two gold and twelve bronze. Three other individuals received certificates of merit and twenty-two officers were promoted to a higher rank.
“Your results are impressive. Those of the summer, with 400 arrests, more than 200 fines for incivilities, 50 businesses closed before July, allow for a calmer summer period,” praised Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, during the closing ceremony speech.
New Developments Announced
The Nice municipality announced its intention to implement the Allo PM application, meaning Allo municipal police. It will offer residents the opportunity to report incivilities and delinquent acts. “I will present it in the coming days,” assured the mayor, Christian Estrosi.
The experimentation of the Wary me application is mentioned by the mayor. The goal, according to the mayor, is to “modernize our alert buttons” which just received the agreement from the National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (CNIL), after two years of discussion between the two administrations. Users of the Wary me mobile platform can, in case of threat or accident, quickly trigger an alert.
The application aims to be all-in-one. Depending on the circumstances, it presents crisis strategies and mass communication to users, such as terrorist threats, industrial accidents, site invasions, and individual assaults…
Enhancing Police Contact and Presence
With the creation of a new unified number for law enforcement, 3606, the municipality aims to make communication between the people of Nice and the municipal police direct. Announced on September 3, 2025, the phone number will be, according to the Horizon mayor, deployed before the end of the year.
Launched on July 29, the multiservices reception points for community policing continue, but in another form, more secure, at the Gare du Sud, on Avenue Jean-Médecin and at Garibaldi. These prevention kiosks welcomed over 3,000 people during the month of August.
