The Nice Socialist Party prepares for its elections

Latest News

Starting next year, Nice’s voters will be preparing for numerous trips to the polls, beginning with the presidential election, followed by the legislative elections, and finally the municipal election. Indeed, these three elections are quite different, but each local elected official is already preparing their electoral ground.

Sรฉgolรจne Royal, Laurent Fabius, Dominique Strauss Kahn, Jack Lang… there are many candidates for the presidential nomination, and each has found their foothold in Nice.
Frรฉdรฉrique Grรฉgoire (city councilor) and Marc Concas (general councilor) are the driving forces behind Sรฉgolรจne Royal’s candidacy, who is currently leading in various opinion polls. Another pair of elected officials, Patrick Mottard and Dominique Boy-Mottard, are supporting Laurent Fabius’s nomination while Dominique Strauss Kahn and Jack Lang have, to date, received no official support from elected officials in the department.

The fight will be tight, and the number of party members has significantly increased in the Alpes-Maritimes department with nearly 1000 new members surely coming to influence the choice of the next presidential candidate.

Once the presidential race is over, which will be crucial for the previous elections, the legislative deadlines will arrive, and here too, the choice of candidates will be crucial. At the starting line, we should find Patrick Allemand (1st district), Dominique Boy Mottard (2nd district), Paul Cuturello (5th district), and the question of the candidate for the third district (as it must be reserved for a woman) will be decided in a few days. However, Patrick Mottard’s absence should be noted as he has chosen to fully dedicate himself to his candidacy for the future municipal election in Nice.

Certainly, the outcome of the presidential elections will have a significant impact on this local election of national dimension, but it will be crucial to be very attentive to these different candidacies that will form the future left-wing list for the upcoming municipal elections in Nice.

Finally, in 2008, the elections that interest Nice’s residents much more will arrive: the municipal elections. Then we will dive into the heart of a subject that remains very secretive even though two candidates have already declared themselves ready for this local challenge: Patrick Allemand and Patrick Mottard.

These two officials, who have been preparing for the municipal elections for a few months, certainly share a first name and political label, but those are the only similarities between these two titans of the local left. Teams are currently being built around these two local personalities, and it is to be hoped that both will use as straightforward and sincere methods as possible to assemble their teams.

Of course, other candidates might surprise us, and Jean-Franรงois Knecht’s name is often mentioned.

It remains to be seen how the various candidates will position themselves against the other local left, represented by Joseph Ciccolini, who could weigh significantly in the Nice electoral balance.

On your marks…
