On July 19, 2025, the SPA House of Nice will permanently cease its activities. The Society for the Protection of Animals refocuses its resources on the Cannet site as part of a departmental reorganization.
The Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA) has announced the permanent closure of the SPA House of Nice located at 74 rue de France. This decision will take effect on July 19, 2025. It is part of a broader reorganization of the association’s presence in the Alpes-Maritimes.
The Cannet site will take over. Already active, it will be strengthened to accommodate all the SPA’s missions in the department. This transfer aims to optimize human, veterinary, and material resources.
The goal is to enhance the effectiveness of animal protection actions while maintaining a local service. The Cannet has a larger space, deemed better suited for animal care and reception.
In 2024, this site hosted 236 animals and facilitated 194 adoptions. More than 5,200 care acts were performed there. It can simultaneously accommodate about thirty cats and ten dogs. Foster families also take care of the most fragile animals, thanks to a network of dedicated volunteers.
“By concentrating our resources on a fully adapted site, we will optimize the quality of reception and care, while strengthening our impact in the field. This reorganization will allow us to be even more effective and supportive in our mission of animal protection in the Alpes-Maritimes,” explains Franck Graffeuille, Southeast Regional Manager of the SPA.
The closure of the Nice site does not imply disengagement, but a desire to rationalize the setup to better meet the needs. The Cannet site will retain all essential functions: reception, care, adoptions, and emergency handling. It will also serve as a coordination center for volunteers and foster families.
