The Stade Niçois triumphed 41-15 at home against Périgueux. A bonus-point victory that allows them to stay in touch with the leaders.
The Reds and Blacks found their way back to victory this Saturday afternoon at the Arboras. Alexandre Compan’s men won with the bonus 41-15 against Périgueux. A win that allows them to come within 3 points of the leader Albi. Very well into the match, the Niçois scored first in the fourteenth minute through Jules Solinas, after a lineout 5m out, the maul fell short at the line, the ball was picked up and landed in the hands of the French scrum-half. After fifteen minutes, the locals led 7-0. Dominating the game, Stade Niçois scored two more tries in the first half. These feats by Romain Riguet and Andrzej Charlat were the results of beautiful team movements and forward-thinking play. Despite a try from Périgueux, the Niçois led 22-10 at halftime.
The Niçois maintain their momentum
From the start of the second half, the locals resumed with the same intentions and scored a third try. Simon Delas benefited from a good break by Romain Riguet to score his third try of the season and allow his team to lead 34-10. The score did not change until the 77th minute when Périgueux scored their second try of the match, narrowing the visitors’ gap to 19 points, 34-15. As the match was about to end, the Niçois were still hungry, and Yann Tivoli came to seal this beautiful Azurienne victory. Final score 41-15, an offensive bonus point that feels good. It was Stade Niçois’s last match of the year 2023. Their next fixture is in 2024, on January 13, at the Arboras, against Vienne.
