They did it! For their first participation in the ConIFA World Football Cup, which brings together regions and small nations not recognized by FIFA, the Selecioun Countea de Nissa is in the final of the competition against the Isle of Man.
It started off badly, however, precisely against the Isle of Man, on the first day of the group stage with a 4-2 defeat for the Selecioun but with, on top of that, two penalties and the expulsion of the Nice goalkeeper.
But, what followed was of an entirely different caliber with three victories that propelled Mattio and Gioria’s protégés to the penultimate step before reaching a goal that probably wasn’t set by all the players and staff, but which has become, today, a beautiful reality.
A World Cup final, it’s hard to dream of a more beautiful Swedish adventure for this group formed a few months ago, composed of players from the County of Nice. Now, they have only 90 minutes left, and more if extra time, to fulfill their new dream…
That of being World Champions!
