The ANICES 1 team wins a hard-fought victory against the Swiss team from Heidiland, bringing the trophy back to Nice.
The Albert Maltesta sports complex hosted the fifteenth edition of the Men’s International Torball Tournament last weekend. Eight teams from France, Belgium, Italy, and Switzerland participated in this annual competition organized by ANICES. After two years of Sicilian victories, the Niçois of ANICES 1 managed to secure the win.
From the morning, matches followed one another in a serious atmosphere. ANICES team 1 rose to second place in their pool and faced Bergamo in the semi-finals. In a balanced match, the Niçois won after an extra time with a score of 5 to 4.
In the final, they faced the Swiss from Heidiland, who had just beaten Augusta, one of the tournament favorites. The final was tense, with 14 penalties offered to the opponents. Despite this, the Niçois players kept their composure to win with a final score of 5 to 4, as in the semi-finals. The trophy stays in Nice.
The ANICES 1 team, composed of Cédric Bouchet, Gilles Brand, Mikaël Maunier, Sébastien Filippini, and Yacine Prussia, was coached by François Dumont. The ANICES 2 team also competed and finished in sixth place.
During the qualification phase, Augusta stood out with the best offense (38 goals) and a defense as solid as ANICES 1 (16 goals conceded each). Cédric Bouchet scored 22 goals in the tournament.
The tournament concluded in the presence of several local officials who came to support the athletes. The ANICES association thanks its partners, volunteers, and all participants for their involvement.
The complete ranking places ANICES 1 at the top, followed by Heidiland, Augusta, and Bergamo. Belgium, represented by Waasland, finished seventh, ahead of Lisieux.
