After two years marked by Covid, the Nice Volleyball Club presented its roster and objectives for the 2021/2022 season.
โVery happy to kick off this new season, after two complicated years due to Covid,โ were the words with which Nice’s President Alain Griguer launched this new season yesterday, September 28, exactly 45 years to the day of the club’s founding.
On this occasion, President Alain Griguer introduced the players and staff whom he considers โthe club’s showcase.โ
He first introduced the new coach Rafael Redwitz and his staff. The former Brazilian and French international will begin his first season as a coach on the Azur bench. The players then introduced themselves one by one to the public.
After this presentation, Alain Griguer congratulated the club’s Women’s Beach Volleyball team, which was the runner-up in the French championship last year. Their second-place trophy was proudly displayed.
Finally, the president, who is starting his 33rd season as the club’s leader, thanked the city of Nice and Christian Estrosi for renovating the court, Salle Giamarchi. โThank you, really, it’s a pleasure to play in a fully renovated room. Initially, it was only a hall meant for schools, now it’s truly a place for high-level sports, we have one of the most beautiful courts in France.โ
The new home jersey, traditionally blue and yellow, was also showcased.
Alain Griguer then concluded his speech by wishing the best to his staff and players โI have confidence in you, we are going to do better than last year, have a great season guys!โ
