After Eric Tanguy (volleyball), another Nicois enters the elite of French sports: Gilles Sezionale is the new president of the French Swimming Federation.
Sezionale, 59 years old, a doctor in pharmacy, vice-president of the FFN and president of the PACA League, was elected with 70.25% of the votes.
He replaces Francis Luyce, who was running for a seventh consecutive term. He has committed to thoroughly reform the federation, to “put clubs at the heart of the system,” and to limit presidential terms to two.
“Unlike Francis, I want to work as a team,” explained the new strongman of the FFN, in a downward trend following completely failed Rio Games from all perspectives after riding the wave of gold medals for two Olympiads.
On the new president’s list is the Antibes native Alain Bernard, a double Olympic champion.
