On January 27, 2026, the students of the Master’s in Territorial Development through Sport from Université Côte d’Azur will organize the 6th edition of La Nuit des Courts et du Sport. An evening dedicated to the meeting of cinema and sport, scheduled from 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM at the Grand Château de Valrose Theater.
La Nuit des Courts et du Sport has been included for several years in the sports and cultural calendar of Nice. The event highlights local sports, the Azur region, and student initiatives. The organizers remind that this evening is aimed at sports enthusiasts, short film amateurs, and a wide audience consisting of institutional actors, students, and professionals.
The 6th edition will take place at the Grand Château de Valrose Theater. The site had already hosted the event last year, in an altogether exceptional setting. The format remains private and aims to facilitate direct exchanges among participants, student teams, and guests.
The event relies on the screening of short films dedicated to sport. This selection offers a varied perspective on sports practices, athlete journeys, and territorial issues related to sports development. Organizers also announce the presence of personalities from the sports world, such as MMA fighter Virgil Augen, the patron of this edition, and from the Azur culture.
This year, the evening will expand its reach with a live broadcast on the project’s website. This innovation aims to reach a wider audience while maintaining the theater’s ambiance, akin to what is offered by the Beausoleil Sport Film Festival.
An Organization Managed by Students
La Nuit des Courts et du Sport is led by students from the Master’s in Sports Management, specializing in Territorial Development through Sport. They manage the entire design and administration of the project. Preparation is based on a division into teams, each responsible for a specific area.
Through this, students apply the skills acquired during their training. The dossier emphasizes that the project aims to showcase their “expertise,” “rigor,” and “creativity.” These terms reflect the ambition to promote the STAPS (Science and Techniques of Physical and Sports Activities) track and the role of sport in territorial development.
The event also follows a sustainable approach. It anticipates reduced printing, a management plan designed to limit the carbon footprint, and the promotion of local actions. This environmental aspect is one of the focuses highlighted by the organizing team.
A Program Designed for Interaction
The evening will begin at 6:00 PM with the welcoming of the public and the opening of partner stands. A photo booth will be available. The screening will start at 7:00 PM, accompanied by interactive activities: quizzes, interactions via hashtags, and photo spaces.
A contest on the event’s social networks will conclude with a draw around 9:00 PM. The evening will continue with a buffet and beverage service until 10:15 PM. A closing ceremony is scheduled between 10:15 and 10:30 PM.
Since 2018, the event has evolved with each edition. The organizers recall the dates of the five previous evenings, including the one in 2025 at the same venue. This continuity illustrates the place that La Nuit des Courts et du Sport now holds in the cultural life of Nice.
