From Friday, August 1st to Sunday, August 3rd, on the occasion of the 24th Night of the Stars, several sites in the Alpes-Maritimes will be open to the public for free to discover the sky and observe it with binoculars and telescopes alongside passionate guides.
The theme of this year: comets!
Since 1991, the French Astronomical Association and Planรจte Sciences have organized the Night of the Stars with the help of hundreds of clubs and associations.
From the beginning, the idea has been to introduce the sky and the nighttime environment to the widest possible audience. In over 20 years, several million people have shared the passion for the sky and stars with thousands of amateur and professional astronomers.
This weekend, the crescent moon will be visible as soon as the sun sets above the southwestern horizon. At the end of twilight, in a darker sky, binoculars and telescopes will be turned towards Saturn, and it will be possible to admire the wonderful crystal rings surrounding this giant planet.
