The Nuits Carrées Festival is back, presenting its brand-new lineup for 2023. A music festival taking place from June 22 to 24, 2023, in Antibes. Three summer nights that promise unforgettable evenings.
Since 2007, the Nuits Carrées Festival has been offering us everlasting memories with numerous exceptional artists who have ignited these nights. Located at the foot of the impressive Fort Carré d’Antibes, this event has clearly made its mark by blending into a remarkable historic site. Always taking place during the last weekend of June, the festival places high demands on its lineup and headliners, in order to present the best to the always huge audience in attendance. In 2021 alone, despite the complicated health situation, that edition was able to attract its audience and convinced the Label Note, the association that created the event, that it has yet to cease surprising us in the years to come.
A promising 2023 lineup
This year, the Nuits Carrées Festival will take place from Thursday, June 22 to Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the heart of the Esplanade du Pré des Pêcheurs in Antibes. The headlining artists for these three nights’ lineup have been revealed, and suffice it to say that these evenings are going to be eventful.
Thursday, June 22: JOK’AIR
2020 was the year of certifications for Jok’Air. In addition to his album JOK’TRAVOLTA being certified gold, the tracks “Bonbon à la menthe,” “Mon survet,” and “Squale” became gold singles, and the track “Las Vegas” was certified platinum. A peculiar but rich year, which Jok’Air capped with the album “VIe République.” At the end of 2021, the most “cain-ri” (Americanized) of French rappers returned to the spotlight. Jok’Air unveiled a new mixtape called New Jok City, featuring 16 new tracks. 2022 resonated as the year of consecration for Jok’Air, with a tour across France, including a sold-out Olympia in Paris on the upcoming February 27, and a stop at the Nuits Carrées Festival on June 22, 2023!
Friday, June 23: SEUN KUTI & EGYPT 80
Seun Kuti is the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. He has spent most of his life preserving and extending his father’s political and musical legacy as the leader of the latter’s former band, Egypt 80. At nine years old, he began opening concerts for Fela, performing a handful of songs with Egypt 80 before his father took the stage. As an aspiring saxophonist and percussionist, he joined the official ranks of the band before the age of 12. Fela passed away in 1997, and Seun, in accordance with his father’s wishes, took over Egypt 80. Since then, he has added his own touch to the music, transforming Afrobeat with his own growing and evolving musical signature.
Saturday, June 24: PIERRE DE MAERE
Pierre de Maere, the new revelation from Belgium, continues his rise. The hostilities started in 2022 with the release of his first EP “Regrets.” Backed by runaway media and popular coverage, the success of his gold single “Un jour je marierai un ange,” and remarkable appearances in France and Belgium, Pierre de Maere continually surprises us and rises to the challenges. Only one year after a sold-out first concert in Paris at La Cigale in May 2022, and a second at the Trianon in November 2022, the artist is now performing at the legendary Olympia for an exceptional concert on May 12, 2023, and will be stopping in Antibes on June 24. A chance to discover his first album “Regarde-moi,” which will be released on January 27.
A lineup that promises to be fantastic! These three artists will illuminate these evenings, not to be missed under any circumstances. If you want to book your tickets as soon as possible, don’t wait and go directly to the festival’s online ticket office.
