Proof that stupidity knows no bounds. The daycare “La Farandole” located in the Moulins neighborhood was vandalized on Saturday night and will remain closed until September. There is dismay in the neighborhood and great anger from Christian Estrosi.
Soot up to the ceiling, overturned furniture, and toilets ravaged by the fire… The scene is simply distressing at the upside-down daycare. Alerted by the services, the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, accompanied by his deputies, Franรงoise Monier, delegate for early childhood, and Philippe Soussi, elected representative of the territory, came in large numbers to assess the damage. โI strongly condemn these acts. This is a sanctuary of the Republic that has been affected, and it is intolerable. The perpetrators have targeted a municipal facility that welcomes nearly a hundred children every day from the Moulins neighborhood and the surrounding areas, and they will not be able to return to their daycare, in their environment, in the coming weeks. Since this morning, municipal services have been mobilized. Each family will be personally contacted today, and a solution will be found for each child,โ condemns Christian Estrosi.
But the leading official of the capital of the Cรดte d’Azur goes further by openly accusing the State: โThe city of Nice will file a complaint against persons unknown but also against the State, which is responsible and has failed to prevent this act. Beyond the general responsibility that falls on the State in terms of public safety, the Moulins neighborhood was classified a few months ago as a Priority Security Zone. Furthermore, this neighborhood is under the responsibility of the National Police in our coordination agreement. We see here that the State has a triple responsibility in this matter and has not provided the necessary means to fight delinquency. The PSZ I managed to obtain from the Minister of the Interior is actually just a real publicity stunt!โ
After the storm, it is now time for calm and restoring the facility to ensure summer reception during August, and finally, to resume daycare activities starting in September.
