The Federal Occitan Republic celebrates this Sunday at noon the Occitan National Day with a minute of silence dedicated, this year, to the 9 Catalan Political Prisoners imprisoned in Madrid and the 7 Catalan Political Exiles in Berlin, Brussels, Geneva, and Edinburgh.
The Federal Occitan Republic laid a wreath of yellow flowers in their honor on Saturday, June 16 at 2 PM at the Monument du Boutaรน (a symbol of the sovereignty of the people of Levens) at 7 Place de la Libertรฉ in Levens (on the occasion of the 7th Boutaรน Feast), and in honor of the Occitan nation which stretches from Nice to Bordeaux and from Limousin to the Pyrenees.
The Republic of Nice also joins this national event.
It will be represented by its president Cristรฒu Daurore, who wishes that the inhabitants of the Republic of Nice become aware that we belong to this great family of the langue d’oc, thanks to Nissart and Alpine.
It is the Val d’Aran (an Occitan enclave of 10,000 inhabitants located in Catalonia) that established this national holiday to honor the establishment in 1990 of their semi-autonomous government, where the Occitan language is co-official, a unique status in all of Occitania.
