The Olive in the Spotlight at the Nice House of the Environment

The House of the Environment invites you to participate for the second consecutive year in the Olive Festival on Saturday, October 18, 2008, starting at 9 AM.

The program for this day will highlight different workshops for demonstration and crafting dedicated to the olive.

A stand introducing the pruning of olive trees, presenting different techniques for harvesting olives and using olive oil in cooking. Everyone, young and old, will be able to make jars of green olives in brine, tapenade, and olioses (a Corsican dry biscuit made with olive oil).

Throughout this Saturday, an interactive exhibition on the olive tree, a key component in the Mediterranean ecosystem, will be offered to the public.

For the more curious, a stand will even offer a visit to the only olive oil mill in the town of Nice on November 5, 2008. Registrations can be made on site on the day of the festival.
