The local authorities, the University Nice Sophia-Antipolis, and the CROUS are creating an innovative service hub for students, teachers, and researchers on the St Jean d’Angรฉly campus: the Student House.
This 8,000mยฒ real estate complex, with Habitat 06 as the project manager, includes 196 studios for students, a “Faculty Club” with 51 accommodations for teacher-researchers, a Student House (a one-stop shop for information and services), the headquarters of the CROUS Nice-Toulon, and a brasserie (the latter services will open between the end of 2016 and the first quarter of 2017).
The total cost of the project is 27 million euros.
This quality development enhances the St Jean d’Angรฉly campus and further promotes Nice and its University internationally.
The U-shaped 6-story building, with an area of 4,100mยฒ, offers 196 social housing units for students, a caretaker dwelling (65mยฒ), and a common area of nearly 400mยฒ.
The “Faculty Club” caters to short and medium-term stays for researchers and teacher-researchers within the framework of partnerships established by research laboratories. The 6-story building offers, over an area of 1,492mยฒ, 51 social housing units for teacher-researchers and a communal space of 147mยฒ.
The Student House, which will be managed by the city of Nice, the owner of the premises, was built on an area of over 1245mยฒ. It will open by the end of the first quarter of 2017 and will be named after Olivier Chesneau, Adjunct Astronomer at the Nice Observatory, who passed away in May 2014 after a long illness, at the age of 42.
The last component is the headquarters of the CROUS Nice-Toulon, currently located on Avenue des Fleurs. The new offices, spread over an area of 952mยฒ, will be dedicated both to the administrative services of the CROUS and to the services specifically for students (housing applications, obtaining a scholarship, etc.). Fifty people will work in this space.
