The CDOS 06 is also involved in organizing recognized sports events such as the Sports Caravan which brought together more than 2,000 young people in 2013, the MIN en fรชtes, the Challenge-trail, or the Department’s Vertical Days.

Proof of the importance of sports practice in the 06, this department counts 72 sports committees, 2,106 clubs, and 242,482 license holders, which is practically a quarter of the population of the Alpes-Maritimes.

It was under the watchful eye of several sports personalities from Azur such as Eric Bauthรฉac, Patrice Barattero, Gilles Veissiรจre, and Lucas Rougeaux that the President of the General Council and the President of the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee of the Alpes-Maritimes extended their best wishes to the CDOS members.

Both highlighted the significant investment made by the department in sports with 119 actions since 2009 including the Allianz Riviera, the Azur Arena, and the Olympic pool.

All eyes are already on Sochi where skiers Nastasia Noens, Mathieu Faivre, Tony Ramoin, and Marion Bertrand will represent Nice’s excellence. They will try to emulate their swimmer counterparts Camille Muffat, Yannick Agnel, Clรฉment Lefer, and Charlotte Bonnet who shone at the London Olympic Games in 2012.
