Brigitte Macron, president of the Fondation Hรดpitaux de Paris-Hรดpitaux de France, launched the 32nd Piรจces Jaunes campaign in support of young hospitalized patients, with media appearances over the weekend, followed by a visit to a hospital in Yvelines on Monday, January 18. She will be accompanied by Didier Deschamps.
The foundation funds expenses related to hospitalization, such as hotel stays or accommodations for relatives, as well as leisure equipment for children. The need has been heightened by the health crisis, which has isolated young patients. This year, the Piรจces Jaunes campaign will be expanded to include “screening for all forms of violence against children, whether physical, psychological, or sexual,” “because it has become apparent that, at some point, all these children, these teenagers have been to the hospital.”
There will be no piggy banks this year placed in post offices and supermarkets, but rather a completely digital collection via the internet or SMS, due to Covid-19, she explained.
For 31 years, the Piรจces Jaunes campaigns have raised nearly 98 million euros and funded more than 8,900 projects, according to the Foundation. It also receives donations that have decreased in recent years, amounting to about 1.5 million per year, as the use of cash has declined.
