The outdoor sports policy of the Alpes-Maritimes

Latest News

This Monday, Eric Ciotti, Deputy and President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, will present the departmental commission on spaces, sites, and routes, in the presence of Mrs. Annick Piquet, Departmental Director of Youth, Sports, and Social Cohesion, and Mr. Jean-Paul Serra, President of the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee.

A Diverse Offering

The Alpes-Maritimes department boasts 15 departmental nature parks, 6500 km of marked hiking trails, 45 horseback riding routes, 35 mountain biking trails, and 37 canyoning descents. The General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes is committed to this diversity and richness and strives to optimize it, particularly with the creation of the departmental commission on spaces, sites, and routes (CDESI).

Promoting Nature Sports

The CDESI ensures accessibility to places supporting nature sports without compromising environmental preservation goals, the practice of other activities (agriculture, pastoralism, hunting, and fishing), and property rights.

Comprising 14 sports committees, 10 committees focused on sustainable development, and 11 local and state authorities, it pursues six strategic objectives:

– Support the economic development of territories and companies in the nature sports sector;
– Structure controlled access to natural spaces;
– Contribute to the promotion and preservation of natural spaces;
– Support the local sports movement and the development of school sports;
– Encourage sports for all;
– Coordinate regional consultation in a global sustainable development strategy.
