The PACA Region also celebrates the reunion of Nice with Provence.

This text involves the President of the Regional Council, Michel Vauzelle, and his colleagues at the Regional Council, including the 1st Vice-President Patrick Allemand and the Delegate Councillor for Youth and Sports Anne-Julie Clary (the City of Nice being represented by its deputy mayor Mr. Pierre-Paul Leonelli, also a regional councillor, which appeared, with all due respect to the elected official, as a sign of marginalization of the event) who wanted to share their joy and pride with the people of Nice present for the reunion of Nice with Provence and France.

“It has been exactly 150 years since the Treaty of Turin sealed the annexation of Nice to France. It was only in 1860 that ‘Nissa la Bella’ became French. Its unique heritage is one of the jewels of our region, and the annexation of this territory to our country allows us today to share a common community of destiny,” these were the official words that Michel Vauzelle, after the introductory and welcoming words of Patrick Allemand, addressed to a rather sparse audience. The evening also featured an artistic performance with the spectacular exhibition of the “Gruppo Storico degli Sbandieratori” from Castiglione Fiorentino (Tuscany, Italy).

City Hall and General Council on one side, Regional Council on the other: without any controversy, should we ask ourselves whether the 150th anniversary of the Annexation of Nice to France is right-wing or left-wing?
