The Villa Paradisio park in the Cimiez district is a green space of 16,000m2. However, today, its entire surface is not accessible to the public. By the end of 2025, after two phases of development, the entirety of the space will be available.
Since 2005, the public has only been able to access half of the Villa Paradisio park. Thus, the park’s extension project could win over more families looking for a green space to relax or play.
The city’s director of green spaces, Romain Betti, presents the future of this park, the heritage of Cimiez. The municipality wishes to return this green space to the people of Nice. It should be noted that the garden has been classified as a Historic Monument since 2021 and as a Garden of Major Interest in the Metropolitan Local Urban Plan (PLUM).
It is this area closed to the public that will be optimized, with two phases of development.
The Paradisio park promises a green space of 16,000m2
Christian Estrosi explains: โIn phase 1, we will gain in visual appeal.โ As soon as the first half of 2025, the Paradisio park will regain 4,000m2 of land, much to the delight of families! The fences will be removed, and circulation paths will be redesigned. In this regard, new trees will be planted in accordance with the city’s Tree Charter of Nice.
Additionally, children’s play equipment will be replaced with wooden play structures, which are more durable. In the pursuit of “zero plastic,” artificial turf will be removed to eliminate heat islands.
For phase 2, the Paradisio park will regain its full surface area, that is 16,000m2! Christian Estrosi details: โPhase 2 will be subject to a study with the architect of the buildings of France. It will last six months.โ
What about the Villa?
The Mayor reassures: it will not be sold. For now, the municipality has a few options to utilize this 1881 residence. It will have an โexclusively culturalโ use, he explains, before noting that its renovation will contribute to โthe spirit of Cimiez.โ
