Since November 4, 2021, the employees of Moovia Transdev responsible for managing parking control in the city of Nice have been on strike.
This is a situation that pleases the people of Nice, even though the lost sums are considerable. No parking tickets have been issued since Thursday, November 4, and for good reason, 100% of the employees of Moovia are on strike.
Two years ago, a strike had already taken place for the same reasons, without achieving their goals. The employees, who are striking for an indefinite period, have the main demand of improving their salary.
“We walk at least 10 kilometers a day, often more. What we want is to be recognized through an increase in our wages.”
The employees highlight the strenuous nature of their work for a salary that barely reaches the minimum wage level. According to them, the kilometers traveled as well as the anger of motorists should be taken more into account in their earnings.
For Nicolas Bertin, President of Moovia, increasing salaries is not feasible. He points out that the “blue vest” employees are among the best-paid when considering the 13th month payment and bonuses.
The situation seems to be at a stalemate.
