A redevelopment plan for the pedestrian zone has been presented to merchants to enhance the pedestrian area of Rue Masséna and its adjacent streets. This new plan includes the complete overhaul of the pavement and the installation of high-quality planters.
The intervention perimeter will encompass the streets of Masséna, Paradis, Halévy, France (Maccarani and Congrès), Jaubert, and Place Magenta. This amounts to a surface area of around 3,000 m² out of the 11,000 m² of the zone.
An initial minimal repair will be undertaken next fall, with the replacement of defective octagonal tiles and outdated lighting.
From 2016 to 2018, the total redevelopment will be carried out in successive phases, for a total cost of over 7 million euros.
A new delivery organization will also be analyzed.
There is also a need to hope for more prudent behavior from merchants whose habit of expanding terraces or displaying merchandise has objectively distorted the area’s aesthetics.
It is understandable that commerce has its operational rules, but it is difficult to pursue quality if the streets are transformed into bazaars where strolling can sometimes be challenging.
